External hard drive as web server??

IF I buy an external hard drive with a LAN port can I use it to host a website from home?

External hard drive as web server??

Not really. What you are describing is just storage, not an actual computer to run the server on.

You can host a website from home with any old computer. It%26#039;s a great way to learn. Just make sure it has about 500mb of RAM and you are good to go.

Contact me if you have any more questions about setting it up.

You should be able to

If you%26#039;re not making a large website, just use the space on your router

Other Replys:Nothing in the external hard drive would prevent you from hosting a website from it. The drive really just stored the files, it is your computer that runs the site. Whether you ISP will have blocks in place to prevent it (because of the bandwidth websites use) is another issue....
